MIDEM CLASSICAL AWARDS for DUX

In 2008 the prestigious international distinction MIDEM CLASSICAL AWARDS 2008 went for the first time to a Polish label.

A CD featuring works by Krzysztof Penderecki for violin, piano and symphony orchestra (Capriccio, De Natura Sonoris II, Piano Concerto ‘Resurrection’) , performed by Patrycja Piekutowska (violin), Beata Bilińska (piano) and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice and conducted by the composer, was named by the international jury as the best album in the Contemporary Music category.

Past winners of the Midem Classical Awards have included Polish musicians: Krystian Zimerman in the Orchestral Music category (for Rachmaninov’s Concertos 1 & 2, with the Boston SO, recorded for Deutsche Grammophon) and the National Polish Radio SO under Antoni Wit in the 20th-Century Orchestral Music category (for Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalila-symphonie for Naxos).
